Tornado insurance
In the Dutch insurance market, there is generally no separate product designed specifically for tornado damage. Instead, tornado-related damage would usually fall under ordinary storm damage cover, provided that the relevant policy terms are met. The Dutch Association of Insurers states that most private home insurance policies cover storm damage, usually subject to an excess. Consumer guidance similarly indicates that storm damage is normally claimed through building insurance, depending on the type of loss. Insurability of tornadoes in the Netherlands is generally handled through existing property and contents insurance rather than through a separate tornado insurance product. Publicly available figures for tornado-specific insured losses in the Netherlands appear to be limited.
