Insurance for subsidence

Subsidence can damage buildings and infrastructure in various ways, but this damage is generally not covered by homeowner or business insurance. This applies specifically to foundation damage caused by differential settlement or pile degradation, which does not qualify as an insurable risk. Insurance typically covers sudden, unforeseen events, whereas foundation damage develops gradually over time and is, to some extent, predictable.
